HOW TO CLEAN YOUR MATER TERRA Greek Leather Sandals

Leather sandals are a fun and fashionable footwear during the summer months or all year, if you live in a climate that allows you to wear them all year round. Unfortunately, leather sandals can become stained or develop an unpleasant odor. Thankfully, MATER TERRA Greek Leather Sandals can be cleaned easily. Here are a few tips to make sure you don’t ruin the leather and keep them in great condition.

Treated Leather Sandals

  1. Use a clean but slightly damp cloth. Place a nickel-sized amount of moisturizing body soap or hand soap on the cloth and rub it until it forms a slight lather. Gently rub the lather onto the sandals.
  2. Use a fresh clean but slightly damp cloth and rub in a circular motion to remove the soap. Use a towel to dry the sandal.
  3. Put a few drops of leather conditioner on a cloth and rub the dirty spots. Follow instructions on the label carefully to make sure you purchased a leather conditioner that is appropriate for your shoes.
  4. Use a fresh clean but slightly damp cloth and rub in a circular motion to remove the conditioner.
  5. Dry your sandals in the sun (avoid direct sunlight).

Untreated Leather Sandals

  1. Use a clean but slightly damp cloth. Place a dime-sized amount of saddle soap and rub it until it forms a slight lather. Gently rub the lather onto the sandals.
  2. Use a fresh clean but slightly damp cloth and rub in a circular motion to remove the soap. Use a towel to dry the sandal.
  3. Put a few drops of leather conditioner on a cloth and rub the dirty spots. Use a fresh clean but slightly damp cloth and rub in a circular motion to remove the conditioner. Follow instructions on the label carefully to make sure you purchased a leather cleaner that is appropriate for your shoes.
  4. Eliminating Odors. Mix one teaspoon of vinegar with one cup of warm water. Use a clean but slightly damp cloth of this natural disinfectant mixture and rub the sandals with it. Vinegar will kill the bacteria and eliminate the odor of your sandals.
  5. Dry your sandals in the sun. You can place them outdoors on a warm, dry day (avoid direct sunlight).

Warnings

Leather can easily be discolored. Before cleaning your sandals, make sure you test any cleaning mixture on a tiny area, before use.
